Nicole Lawrence

Nicole Lawrence is a Melbourne based designer and maker whose practice centres on furniture and lighting as formal inquiry. Densely researched through material testing and fabrication studies, her practice is grounded in a belief in material agency.  

Drawing on histories in Gold and Silversmithing and Industrial Design, Lawrence approaches her work with a devotion to technical fluency,  one shaped by historical technique as much as by careful enquiry into process and authorship. Working across institutional and commissioned contexts, she has established a reputation for conceptually resolved pieces built by practiced hands that form exacting detail.  

Since establishing the eponymous Nicole Lawrence Studio in 2020, she has developed a practice that extends across both commercial and small-scale projects, delivering design outcomes at varying scales with consistent formal discipline. At the core of her approach is a commitment to precision and material integrity, ensuring each work is resolved with clarity and made to endure.
